River Crossing Playback Theatre

River Crossing Playback Theatre (formerly Healing York Playback) is a theatre project of South Central PA formed to build community through the dramatic portrayal of real-life stories. Begun as a spin-off of the Healing York Initiative in 2007, we continue to provide an avenue for building community bridges and opening dialog around charged issues through the magic of Playback Theatre.

Playback Theatre is a simple improvisational form in which members of the audience tell stories and watch them played back on the spot. As the stories come alive on stage, audience and players become entwined in a community dialogue that is both deeply personal and powerfully universal.

In 2009, we have grown to include a core ensemble of seven players, and we offer periodic workshops and performances to the Susquehanna River Valley community and beyond. Join us in learning this compelling interactive art! Or consider where this form of community expression might be useful in a group or neighborhood near you. Subscribe to stay in touch!
