Your Stories, York's Stories Comm-unity Performance
101 W College Avenue at Beaver Street Entrance
York, PA 17401
This event features the stories that you bring about your hometown -- the good, the bad and the ugly -- in a dynamic improvisational performance using Playback Theatre. A spin-off of the Healing York initiative begun in 2006, the interactive performance will wake, shake and stimulate the many feelings and thoughts that we carry around racism, and other forms of discrimination.
The evening also features other opportunities for your voice in York's future through video interviews, a graffiti wall, discussion circles and more! Join us for this exciting step toward comm-unity!
Playback Theatre is a simple improvisational form in which members of the audience tell stories and watch them played back on the spot. As the stories come alive on stage, audience and players become entwined in a community dialogue that is both deeply personal and powerfully universal.
Tickets can be purchased online or at the door for a suggested donation of $5-15. Reserve your seat now at www.mycommunitytickets.com.
Your Stories, York's Stories is a joint production of Healing York Playback, the William Penn Performing Arts Institute and Yorktowne Dance Theatre.
Sponsorship is also provided by the York County Community Against Racism, York Friends Meeting, York Jewish Community Center Diversity Programs and the York City Human Relations Commission. The event is made possible in part with a grant from the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
