Intro

Building Bridges, One Story at a Time

River Crossing Playback Theatre (formerly Healing York Playback) formed to build community through the dramatic portrayal of real-life stories. Begun as a spin-off of the Healing York Initiative (York, PA) in 2007, we provide an avenue for building community bridges and opening dialog through the magic of Playback Theatre.

Playback Theatre is a simple improvisational form in which members of the audience tell stories and watch them played back on the spot. As the stories come alive on stage, audience and players become entwined in a community dialogue that is both deeply personal and powerfully universal.

In 2009, we grew to a core ensemble of seven players, and offer periodic workshops and performances in the Susquehanna River Valley and beyond. Join us in learning this compelling interactive art! Or consider where this kind of community expression might enrich your group or neighborhood!

Improvising Real Life Stories with Playback Theatre ~ Building Community through Art
A course for ages 14 and up
Saturdays, 9 - 11 AM
January 23 - February 27
$100 for eight classes (16 hours)

For the new year, try something completely new. In Playback Theatre, your stories and your deep listening are the only scripts. Take on a new adventure with an improvisational form that can transform the way you act, the way you listen and the way we all build community. Classes will feature playful games and the learning of improvisational forms to "play back" personal stories that everyone gets a chance to tell. Includes an offsite observation and practice February 20th in Gettysburg. Class ends with informal performance for family and friends.

York Little Theatre is a community-based theatre with more than 75 years of producing theatre of all types. Located just off I-83 in East York, the theatre is easily accessible from York, Lancaster, Harrisburg or Baltimore.
